Welcome....Here's a glimpse of our happenings!

The verses that have REALLY spoken to me (Sarah) lately....

"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock." Matthew 7:24-25

Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings. I Peter 5:8-9

From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. For in him we live and move and have our being. As some of your own poets have said, 'We are his offspring.' Acts 17:26-28

May the words of my mouth and the mediation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock, and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14

So be careful to do what the Lord your God has commanded you; do not turn aside to the right or to the left. Walk in all the way that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess. Deuteronomy 5:32-33

God, our God, will take care of the hidden things but the revealed things are our business. It's up to us and our children to attend to all the terms in this Revelation. Deuteronomy 29:29 (The Message)

About the Friesen's....

We are Marc, Sarah, Luke, and Kate Friesen. We were married June 5, 2004. We have one son, born July 21, 2008, named Luke Andrew -- now 4 years old. We also have a daughter named Kate Christine -- born June 6, 2012. Marc is working at Cessna as a Senior Accountant, and Sarah stays home full-time with Luke. Sarah also gets to work very part-time at home for Graber Backhoe -- an excavation company AND VERY part-time at our church. We LOVE being a part of Grace Community Church here in Newton, KS. We lead a Community Life Group of other wonderful couples. Marc thoroughly enjoys long-distance running and Taekwondo. Sarah thoroughly enjoys walking -- especially when the weather is nice to take Luke and/or out in the stroller. Thanks for reading our blog!

*****

Marc takes his lunch to work most days of the week. I don't pack his lunch as he does just fine at that job :) Depending on how much he's run over the last several days (at any given time), Marc will pack himself a bag full of snacks. He told me recently that usually, by 8:30, he's needs a snack to keep going.

This phenomenon is funny for a couple of reasons. a) Marc gets to work at 8:00 A.M....30 minutes later, he needs a snack. b) Marc is an inventory accountant for Cessna. In other words, he sits. He does not have an active job.

Anyways, last week, Marc sent me this photo....

I guess he "stores" his snacks right underneath his computer monitor for easy and quick access to energy.

What a goof?????

Snow Pics....

For you local readers....you know this information already. Scroll down to look at pics.

For you non-local readers....if you hadn't already heard from others' blogs, we had a bit of a snow storm here last week....specifically, last week Tuesday.

The snow forecast was for 6" - 8" (I think). Our little town of Newton ended up with 17" -- at least that's what the local news reported.

Marc, my wonderful husband, does "official" reporting of weather (temperatures, precipitation, etc.) for the National Weather Service. Here at our home, Marc measured around 13" (pardon the inaccuracy).

Who knows? Either way, it as a lot of snow -- relative to our "neck of the woods." (I realize that if any of you non-local readers are up north or are from somewhere like upstate New York -- you're laughing at us for making a big deal about our snowfall).

Also, it was C.O.L.D. -- again, relative to us (my very good friend, Tammy, lives up in Manitoba, and they deal with A LOT colder temperatures than we do).

I believe I heard on the news that we tied a "cold record" from 1899. Wow!

Anyways, here are some pics....just for fun.

Some photos of our deck....you really can't even tell the deck is there because the snow level is at or above the deck (and yes, I broke the cardinal rule in photography and took a pic against the sun)....

Standing at the end of our driveway, looking at our cul-de-sac....which you cannot see where the curb is. Other than by our awesome neighbor, Willis, our street is NEVER plowed. And, we don't have much traffic at all (a good thing); therefore, it takes a bit for snow to get packed down enough for somewhat decent driving.

Our air-conditioner directly behind the house (obviously not currently in use)....

We have a "courtyard" -- an area between our house and an out-building. Our deep freezer (which I use and get into quite a bit) is inside the outbuilding. I asked Marc to shovel me a path from the house to the outbuilding. Here are the piles. They're in the shade -- which means they'll be here for quite awhile.

And, Marc shoveling our sidewalk (sorry for the sun again) as well as Marc striving to get our mail (after this pic was taken, Marc did shovel around the mailbox for our wonderful mailman).

And, Luke all decked out in snow gear -- complete with his sunglasses.

You'll notice that or driveway has been plowed. Again, our awesome neighbor, Willis, took care of that.

And, finally....

This won't surprise most of you (if you know Marc), but Marc didn't really take much of a running break during the cold and snow.

I happened to be up when Marc came in from running one of those mornings....Here's what I saw, and here's the temperature it was at the time (that's in Fahrenheit)....

Luke has suddenly taken a HUGE interest in carwashes. In fact, he likes to point them out -- whether they're "automatic" carwashes or manual carwashes.

The funny thing is that if we're in an "automatic" carwash, he gets a nervous look on his face. I almost wonder if he's slightly clausterphobic -- being inside something one can't get out of.

But, nevertheless, his interest abounds.

The other day -- I was inside an "automatic" carwash with Luke. He wanted to hold my hand for security. So, I held his hand with his cute nervous look :)
