The verses that have REALLY spoken to me (Sarah) lately....

About the Friesen's....

We are Marc, Sarah, Luke, and Kate Friesen. We were married June 5, 2004. We have one son, born July 21, 2008, named Luke Andrew -- now 4 years old. We also have a daughter named Kate Christine -- born June 6, 2012. Marc is working at Cessna as a Senior Accountant, and Sarah stays home full-time with Luke. Sarah also gets to work very part-time at home for Graber Backhoe -- an excavation company AND VERY part-time at our church. We LOVE being a part of Grace Community Church here in Newton, KS. We lead a Community Life Group of other wonderful couples. Marc thoroughly enjoys long-distance running and Taekwondo. Sarah thoroughly enjoys walking -- especially when the weather is nice to take Luke and/or out in the stroller. Thanks for reading our blog!

Marc's 50-Mile....

Many of you know that Marc has run and continues to run marathons and ultra-marathons. A marathon is 26.2 miles. Officially, an ultra-marathon is defined as anything over a marathon. The first weekend of April, Easter Weekend, our little family ventured up to Kanopolis State Park for Marc to run an ultra-marathon. This particular race was 50 miles -- yep, 50 miles. Since I refuse to camp in a tent (whether pregnant or not), we, once again, rented a cabin in the park. We've rented these cabins in the past. They've treated us well, and Luke LOVES them! Here's our little cabin for this particular weekend....FYI -- Kanopolis State Park has 6 cabins to rent. This happens to be #5 (I mention this because Luke may tell you that this year we stayed in #5 -- last night, referring to last time, we stayed in cabin #6).
We arrived at the park on the afternoon of Good Friday. Marc drove Luke and me to the cabin, unloaded the car for us, and proceeded to the other side of the park to assist in setting up for the pre-race dinner (the evening before the race). Luke and I ventured out to the area around the cabins.... First, we found that some new playground equipment was installed since the last time we visited (it had been almost 7 months).
To say that Luke enjoyed this equipment would be an understatement....I, on the other hand, thoroughly enjoyed watching him play.
We had taken along Luke's tricycle. So, after the playground, Luke rode his tricycle around the area.
We then took the jogging stroller (another item of the many items we packed for this weekend) down to the beach. The water was most definitely too cold to get in, but Luke enjoyed watching boats on the lake (guys were fishing).
Shortly after that, Marc came and got us to take us to supper (the pre-race supper I earlier referred to). After supper, it was definitely time for bed....Luke was worn out, and Marc had a LONG race to run the next day. Marc left SUPER early the next morning -- Neither Luke nor I were up for his departure. After a leisure morning in the cabin, Luke and I ventured out. It was VERY windy that day (like -- extreme Kansas wind). SO, Luke thoroughly enjoyed letting bubbles blow out of the wand....
We also took some time for Luke to watch a DVD (or two) in the cabin while I rested....
After an entire day of doing "this and that" around the cabin, Luke and I ventured to the race finish site to watch Marc finish his 50-mile race. I believe he ultimately finished in 10 hours and 13 minutes :) Yay!!!!! (Sorry I didn't capture a pic of the finish -- I was taking care of Luke at the moment). After a restless night (Marc -- because he was sore and trying to recover from running all day; Myself -- uncomfortably pregnant in an uncomfortable bed), we quickly packed up the car on Easter morning to make it to the 11:00 service at church. We rested and recovered in the afternoon....Then, we headed to my parents' house for our Easter supper. Sorry -- no pics of that one! But, we had a wonderful time with my family!
