Welcome....Here's a glimpse of our happenings!

The verses that have REALLY spoken to me (Sarah) lately....

"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock." Matthew 7:24-25

Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings. I Peter 5:8-9

From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. For in him we live and move and have our being. As some of your own poets have said, 'We are his offspring.' Acts 17:26-28

May the words of my mouth and the mediation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock, and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14

So be careful to do what the Lord your God has commanded you; do not turn aside to the right or to the left. Walk in all the way that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess. Deuteronomy 5:32-33

God, our God, will take care of the hidden things but the revealed things are our business. It's up to us and our children to attend to all the terms in this Revelation. Deuteronomy 29:29 (The Message)

About the Friesen's....

We are Marc, Sarah, Luke, and Kate Friesen. We were married June 5, 2004. We have one son, born July 21, 2008, named Luke Andrew -- now 4 years old. We also have a daughter named Kate Christine -- born June 6, 2012. Marc is working at Cessna as a Senior Accountant, and Sarah stays home full-time with Luke. Sarah also gets to work very part-time at home for Graber Backhoe -- an excavation company AND VERY part-time at our church. We LOVE being a part of Grace Community Church here in Newton, KS. We lead a Community Life Group of other wonderful couples. Marc thoroughly enjoys long-distance running and Taekwondo. Sarah thoroughly enjoys walking -- especially when the weather is nice to take Luke and/or out in the stroller. Thanks for reading our blog!

Several "Happenings"....

If you fine readers don't mind, I am going to interrupt our San Antonio trip for a miscellaneous happenings!

First, starting this week until the end of February, for a few times each week, Kate's friend, Brahm, will be hanging out with Kate & me in the mornings.  Brahm's mom took a long-term substitute teaching job until the end of February.  At one point in time several years ago, Brahm's older brother, Oliver stayed here some.  For quite a few years, Brahm's older sister, Lily, also stayed here some!  Lily & Luke got to be very good friends over those years!  Now, it's Brahm's turn.

And, if yesterday at lunchtime was any indication of what is to become, Brahm & Kate may become good little friends!  There was quite a bit of toddler entertainment & laughter happening in our kitchen.

Prior to lunch, though, Brahm, Kate, and I went to the library to play & participate in storytime!

Brahm is quite photogenic, in my opinion!

During the storytime, both kiddos got to make an ornament for the library's Christmas tree....

Kate needs to learn the art of smiling for a "selfie" -- Ha!

Second, last night, there was the "Elementary Art Show" at Luke's school!  Neither Marc nor I are artists!  TRUST us on this one!  So, the chances of Luke (or Kate), at least genetically speaking,  becoming a good artist are pretty slim.

But, realizing that his class has awesome guidance in art, I figured I might see something awesome that our son created.  I can honestly say I was not let down, AND I was very impressed!  Equally as awesome last night at the show was to see the older kids' art.  It was fun to see where Luke will be headed in the art department in the next several years!

Usually, I put Kate in a stroller at most events (she's a busy little girl)!  We didn't last night at the art show.  She did *relatively* well.  It helped that there were cookies at the show -- Ha!  The cookie entertained her a bit!

This semester, in Luke's school, in art, they've been learning about famous artists!  One of the artists the kindergartners learned about was Wayne Thiebaud.

And, Luke's cupcake....(the top one)

The kids also learned about pop art....

The kindergartners made "Pop Art" leaves...

Third, tonight, I had a date with Luke, my favorite 6 year-old kindergartner....His daddy came home from work a wee bit early to take him to our local flower shop.  Luke used his own money to buy me a pretty red rose!

Luke wanted to go to "Pizza Hut" (no surprise here).  BUT, we went to one in Wichita!

It's awesome to see Luke now actually be able to do some of the provided restaurant activities rather than just simply color on the sheet.  I had a good time working on some of the activities with him!

After supper, he & I did a bit of Christmas shopping before heading home.  We didn't stay out too late since he was in school today (Luke tends to get tired rather quickly on a school days)!

We had some pretty awesome conversations....a good date, of course!!!

And, at home, our pretty 2 year-old went on a mini date with her daddy (ate local)...and, her daddy bought her a rose as well!

A good night had by all...
