Welcome....Here's a glimpse of our happenings!

The verses that have REALLY spoken to me (Sarah) lately....

"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock." Matthew 7:24-25

Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings. I Peter 5:8-9

From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. For in him we live and move and have our being. As some of your own poets have said, 'We are his offspring.' Acts 17:26-28

May the words of my mouth and the mediation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock, and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14

So be careful to do what the Lord your God has commanded you; do not turn aside to the right or to the left. Walk in all the way that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess. Deuteronomy 5:32-33

God, our God, will take care of the hidden things but the revealed things are our business. It's up to us and our children to attend to all the terms in this Revelation. Deuteronomy 29:29 (The Message)

About the Friesen's....

We are Marc, Sarah, Luke, and Kate Friesen. We were married June 5, 2004. We have one son, born July 21, 2008, named Luke Andrew -- now 4 years old. We also have a daughter named Kate Christine -- born June 6, 2012. Marc is working at Cessna as a Senior Accountant, and Sarah stays home full-time with Luke. Sarah also gets to work very part-time at home for Graber Backhoe -- an excavation company AND VERY part-time at our church. We LOVE being a part of Grace Community Church here in Newton, KS. We lead a Community Life Group of other wonderful couples. Marc thoroughly enjoys long-distance running and Taekwondo. Sarah thoroughly enjoys walking -- especially when the weather is nice to take Luke and/or out in the stroller. Thanks for reading our blog!

A Whole Lot of Food....

It seems to me that little Luke has been consuming a lot of food lately. Now, I realize he's in his sixth week of life and he's probably in a bit of a growth spurt, but my goodness. I, Sarah, the mother, am constantly wondering if I'm doing the right thing (such as feeding him too much). Marc, the father, simply says, "Sarah, he's a Friesen. He's going to eat a bunch."

So, in the middle of the night last night (as I was feeding Luke), I was pondering Marc's statement. If Luke takes after his father, he will be eating quite a bit.

Case in Point #1 --

Marc and I met on a blind date. Our first date was February 22, 2003. On that date, we went to eat at "Olive Garden." Upon looking at the menu, I decided on a normal entree. Marc decided on the "Tour of Italy." When his plate arrived at the table, I was astounded at how much food there was. Sure enough, though, he cleaned up the ENTIRE plate.

Case in Point #2 --

About a month or so after our first date, we were at my parents for a meal. I don't remember exactly what my mom made that evening, but I do remember several days later my mom saying, "Gosh, he can sure eat a lot." (or something to that extent)

Case in Point #3 --

3-4 months after we met, Marc had accepted a bet from some coworkers that he could not eat 30 pieces of pizza off of the "Pizza Hut" buffet. The ultimate challenge was that this was to be done in roughly 45 minutes during their lunch hour. For several month, Marc "trained" by slowly increasing the amount of pizza he ate for lunch. Sure enough, by one Friday in June, the challenge was on. I even went to witness this. Marc did indeed consume 30 pieces of pizza in just under 45 minutes. Then, that evening, we were once again at my parents' house. My dad had grilled some burgers, and my mom had made a bunch of other stuff. Marc continued eating that evening. I do remember, however, the next day him not eating much.

Here's a photo of that event.

So, should I be at all surprised at Luke's eating -- even at a mere 5 weeks of age? I'm scared for the future. What will my shopping cart look like? How will we pay for this? I will need several jobs -- or so my mom says.

WHOA!!! 30 pieces??? That is some kind of record!! You better start a food savings fund now for when Luke hits those teen years!

I'm just catching up on your blog, but Marc's been taking bets for eating large amounts for long long time. I remember something to the effect of betting that he'd eat a whole Dominoes Pizza and a 7-11 Super Double Gulp (whatever the 64 oz. one is) back in 1991 at a church convention in Oregon. I remember him not feeling so well afterwards.
