Welcome....Here's a glimpse of our happenings!

The verses that have REALLY spoken to me (Sarah) lately....

"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock." Matthew 7:24-25

Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings. I Peter 5:8-9

From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. For in him we live and move and have our being. As some of your own poets have said, 'We are his offspring.' Acts 17:26-28

May the words of my mouth and the mediation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock, and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14

So be careful to do what the Lord your God has commanded you; do not turn aside to the right or to the left. Walk in all the way that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess. Deuteronomy 5:32-33

God, our God, will take care of the hidden things but the revealed things are our business. It's up to us and our children to attend to all the terms in this Revelation. Deuteronomy 29:29 (The Message)

About the Friesen's....

We are Marc, Sarah, Luke, and Kate Friesen. We were married June 5, 2004. We have one son, born July 21, 2008, named Luke Andrew -- now 4 years old. We also have a daughter named Kate Christine -- born June 6, 2012. Marc is working at Cessna as a Senior Accountant, and Sarah stays home full-time with Luke. Sarah also gets to work very part-time at home for Graber Backhoe -- an excavation company AND VERY part-time at our church. We LOVE being a part of Grace Community Church here in Newton, KS. We lead a Community Life Group of other wonderful couples. Marc thoroughly enjoys long-distance running and Taekwondo. Sarah thoroughly enjoys walking -- especially when the weather is nice to take Luke and/or out in the stroller. Thanks for reading our blog!

Girls' Night Out....

This post is LONG overdue -- almost three weeks, to be exact. But, I do have some funny photos to post (at least funny to those involved).

2 1/2 weeks ago, on Sunday, August 2, our Community Life Group women had a "Girls' Night Out." We hadn't had one since late February, and we also wanted to get one in before Lisa's chemo started up again.

It ended up being PERFECT August weather that evening to go out.

We started out at a local Wichita favorite -- Carlo's O' Kelly's. It's one of those local Tex-Mex chains that never seems to get old even though they definitely don't update their buildings or decor very much.

I don't have a photo of our first incident, but it definitely had to be when the server spilled salsa. It managed to miss me somehow, but Johannah's shirt and purse got a bit covered in salsa. You could tell the server felt bad, and fortunately, her purse was made out of material that made it easy to wipe off. Don't know about her shirt, though...I haven't heard how the laundering went, Johannah.

But, the food was still good, as usual. Here's a photo of our Community Life Group ladies after eating.

After eating, because it was SUCH a nice evening, we went here....

It's All Star Adventures -- you know, one of those places that has miniature golf, go-karts, an arcade, bumper cars (both inside and out), and of course, small amusement park rides. It's one of those places that one could potentially spend a lot of money at -- nope, not cheap entertainment here.

But, we stuck to miniature golf and ONE amusement park ride.

Our miniature golf skills actually come across as quite professional (insert sarcasm here). Just to not leave anybody out, I feel I must post a photo of each of us. My, we are SOOOOOO good.

I guess that because this is the "Friesen" blog, I'll post a photo of myself first.

Now, here's the other Sarah in our group -- Sarah H.

And, for the photo of Johannah, the master -- that's because she ultimately won our game.

Here's Sam....

And, Lisa....

Two things that I personally love about Girls' Night Out are a) the ability and pleasure of acting completely goofy and b) the ability to laugh at ourselves

Here's a photo of the latter....

Also, to spur on some laughter -- we all had at least one "interesting" hole throughout this game. For a couple of us (me included), the ball just never went into the hole...so, we had to take the maximum points allowed on that hole. For others, the ball went completely off of the green. Sorry Sarah H. -- your's is the photo I had.

There's nothing in the world like fellowship like that :)

We did get to celebrate two of the girls getting "Holes in One" -- Sam & Johannah.

And, you know at entertainment places such as this one, you can always admire the beautiful architecture (again, insert the sarcasm).

O.K., enough of the miniature golfing....

After miniature golfing, we had five tickets we needed to use up. Well, some of the amusement rides were only one ticket per person. PERFECT! Well, sort of....

I'm not much into amusement park rides. A few others didn't want anything too "spinny." Sarah H. was up for anything. Finally, after much debate, we all decided we would get on the "Big Swing" -- you know the swings that go fairly high up in a big circle. No big deal, right????

WRONG! It was quite interesting. Needless to say, I didn't get any photos of this event. First, I was afraid I'd drop the camera. Second, I didn't want to get any more nauseous than what I already was. Third, Johannah (who was on the swing behind me) kept shouting at me during the ride to not move....she was trying to concentrate on my still head to avoid nausea herself :)

Oh my -- this is something we can COMPLETELY LAUGH about now. It wasn't so funny at the time.

Here's a question for all of you???? With age, do amusement park rides get more difficult to tolerate?

We pretty much all had issues that evening; however, I'm VERY HAPPY to report that there was no vomiting from any of us after that ride.

After our stomachs settled a bit, we decided to end our evening with this....yep, ice cream.

It was a VERY FUN evening, despite the amusement park ride. We will definitely have to do this again. Plus Lisa, when your cancer treatment is over, we're having a HUGE PARTY!

I used to be much better at tolerating spinning rides than I am now. Also, wanted to send good thoughts to your friend Lisa for her treatment.
