Welcome....Here's a glimpse of our happenings!

The verses that have REALLY spoken to me (Sarah) lately....

"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock." Matthew 7:24-25

Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings. I Peter 5:8-9

From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. For in him we live and move and have our being. As some of your own poets have said, 'We are his offspring.' Acts 17:26-28

May the words of my mouth and the mediation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock, and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14

So be careful to do what the Lord your God has commanded you; do not turn aside to the right or to the left. Walk in all the way that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess. Deuteronomy 5:32-33

God, our God, will take care of the hidden things but the revealed things are our business. It's up to us and our children to attend to all the terms in this Revelation. Deuteronomy 29:29 (The Message)

About the Friesen's....

We are Marc, Sarah, Luke, and Kate Friesen. We were married June 5, 2004. We have one son, born July 21, 2008, named Luke Andrew -- now 4 years old. We also have a daughter named Kate Christine -- born June 6, 2012. Marc is working at Cessna as a Senior Accountant, and Sarah stays home full-time with Luke. Sarah also gets to work very part-time at home for Graber Backhoe -- an excavation company AND VERY part-time at our church. We LOVE being a part of Grace Community Church here in Newton, KS. We lead a Community Life Group of other wonderful couples. Marc thoroughly enjoys long-distance running and Taekwondo. Sarah thoroughly enjoys walking -- especially when the weather is nice to take Luke and/or out in the stroller. Thanks for reading our blog!

Randomness....

Last Saturday (the 8th), Marc was in a triathlon. He ended up placing 14th out of approximately 220 people -- not too bad considering he's hardly been on a bicycle this summer.

Today (the 15th), Marc was in another triathlon. Today, he placed 5th out of approximately 140 people -- again, not too bad. We're proud of him in this household!

While Marc was traveling home from his triathlon today, Luke and I went to a Kindermusik openhouse. Luke is now enrolled for a 5-week fall class on babies/toddlers and sign language, taught by none other than our friend Jill. I can't WAIT for this class. I need some help with Luke in this arena. Sorry -- I don't have any photos from this outing.

After Marc got back from his triathlon, we decided to eat lunch at our local Quizno's. Luke did EXCELLENT there, but he was showing off a bit.

I had given him a couple of plastic spoons to play with. He ended up with one almost on his nose. I think this goofiness might be inherited from his Uncle Joel. You see, Joel is notorious for putting spoons on his nose -- making them stick to his nose -- even though he is in his 30s. Perhaps I'll get a photo of this goofiness at our next family gathering. In the meantime, here's a 12 1/2 month old -- headed that direction.

After lunch, Luke and I went to our local library. They were having a four-hour children's used book sale. When we walked in, there were no other customers. There were only some volunteers, waiting for us to purchase books for a donation. I had Luke in a little stroller. Finally, I asked politely if the volunteers minded if Luke crawled around. They, I'm sure, were all mothers. They were MORE THAN HAPPY to have Luke do that. Luke had a good time while I was looking at books, and he was well watched by all of the mothers in the room.

Finally, a Jr. Highish (probably) girl, who was a daughter of one of the volunteers, asked me if she could read to Luke. "Absolutely," I said. So, she read to Luke and played with Luke while I finished my "shopping." It was very cute, and Luke was very friendly with her. This, I did take a photo of....too bad I forgot to ask the nice girl what her name was.

And yes, we did purchase quite a few books to add to our collection in this household. If I could only be patient and wait for Luke to learn to sit still while I read him a book :) I know -- that'll eventually come. Right?

And, this is totally random, but Marc and I find this hilarious to watch. And, I feel I must share it -- if only for our memories.

Before Luke was born, at one of my babyshowers, we received this musical seahorse as a gift (from our friend, Renee -- I think). Luke didn't pay much attention to it for awhile, but for the last couple of months, he's taken to it.

To work it properly, one must merely press on its belly. Then, it makes nice, soft, gentle music. We've showed Luke THIS MANY TIMES. But, he insists on using his mouth to make the music go. It's really funny to watch in person. I'm not sure these photos do it any justice, but again, I feel I must put them on this blog.

That's all of the randomness I have for now. I hope all of our readers have a very nice weekend!

I have many a "spoon" photo of Joel I'd be happy to pass along. Spoons, balloons, party hats... you name it, and he finds a way to exploit it! :-D

Love the spoon picture and what a hoot that he starts the music with his mouth. He's adorable.
