Welcome....Here's a glimpse of our happenings!

The verses that have REALLY spoken to me (Sarah) lately....

"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock." Matthew 7:24-25

Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings. I Peter 5:8-9

From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. For in him we live and move and have our being. As some of your own poets have said, 'We are his offspring.' Acts 17:26-28

May the words of my mouth and the mediation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock, and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14

So be careful to do what the Lord your God has commanded you; do not turn aside to the right or to the left. Walk in all the way that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess. Deuteronomy 5:32-33

God, our God, will take care of the hidden things but the revealed things are our business. It's up to us and our children to attend to all the terms in this Revelation. Deuteronomy 29:29 (The Message)

About the Friesen's....

We are Marc, Sarah, Luke, and Kate Friesen. We were married June 5, 2004. We have one son, born July 21, 2008, named Luke Andrew -- now 4 years old. We also have a daughter named Kate Christine -- born June 6, 2012. Marc is working at Cessna as a Senior Accountant, and Sarah stays home full-time with Luke. Sarah also gets to work very part-time at home for Graber Backhoe -- an excavation company AND VERY part-time at our church. We LOVE being a part of Grace Community Church here in Newton, KS. We lead a Community Life Group of other wonderful couples. Marc thoroughly enjoys long-distance running and Taekwondo. Sarah thoroughly enjoys walking -- especially when the weather is nice to take Luke and/or out in the stroller. Thanks for reading our blog!

Luke Randoms, Part 1....

I'm going to a bit of a mini-series this week....It's all a bunch of "Luke Randoms." It'll show everybody what a day (no days are "typical") in the life of Luke looks like.

Yep, stay with me folks -- I'm going to be one of those bloggers (for a bit anyways) who only blogs about his or her kids. (Please remind me that I'm not normally like that).

*****

Every once in awhile, and today is one of those days, Luke gets to eat breakfast on the couch. When he does, he MUST use a sippy cup with a "stopper valve." He MUST eat something dry (and today -- it was a dry waffle -- one without butter, syrup, or any other topping).

Luke likes to do it, and fortunately, at least so far, he doesn't protest at the following meal when he has to eat at the table :)

Last night, Marc and I had a much needed date-night. Luke was home with one of our fabulous teenage baby-sitters, and we were told that he did great.

Like any good and well-meaning parents, we, of course, during the course of our evening, purchased Luke something (just for fun and we thought they were too cute to pass up). We purchased him some Elmo slippers to wear around the house this winter.

As we purchased these slippers, we muttered to ourselves that we never thought we'd be "one of those parents" who actually added to and supported a child's liking of licensed characters.

But, many of you know how that goes :)

After church today, Luke received his slippers (and yes -- he has MY nametag on his shirt from church).

He sat on the floor as I explained to him that they went on his feet -- "They're shoes," I told him (Luke likes to talk about shoes).

Believe it or not, Luke did NOT want them on his feet. So, for now, they're toys.

OR -- in Luke's case (and if you saw my LAST POST), they're merely to have around to feed Elmo.

Yep, Elmo received bites as well as some sips of milk at lunch today....

In this photo, Luke is feeding one of the Elmo slippers some "bites" of his sandwich.

And, just so you all know, even though Luke would NOT wear the slippers, he did take them to bed with him after lunch for his nap. I guess the slippers needed a nap.

And this morning, walking out of church, Luke wanted to run through the parking lot to our vehicle (that's a normal now). Well, our church's parking lot is quite busy after church; therefore, Luke is REQUIRED to hold one of our hands. The problem -- Luke doesn't want to hold our hands while running.

So, a fit ensued in the church parking lot. He ended up being carried across the parking lot screaming. Yep -- GOOD TIMES!

By the time Luke was in his carseat to go home, he demanded his blanket. This photo represents what Luke looked like all the way home from church today (which is only a few minutes of a drive).

I, too, didn't want to go the licensed character route. But a certain Miss Adventure loves Ariel and Tinkerbell. And so I feed the habit. *sigh*

Luke had to wear that hat in Sunday School today. So funny! It is so cute to see him feeding Elmo!

LOVE all things Elmo. Elmo is a such a cuddly fellow. I'm sure Luke will warm up to his slippers before long.

I've been subject to screaming fits, too... and now my boys are getting that from their own kids. ;)
