Welcome....Here's a glimpse of our happenings!

The verses that have REALLY spoken to me (Sarah) lately....

"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock." Matthew 7:24-25

Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings. I Peter 5:8-9

From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. For in him we live and move and have our being. As some of your own poets have said, 'We are his offspring.' Acts 17:26-28

May the words of my mouth and the mediation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock, and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14

So be careful to do what the Lord your God has commanded you; do not turn aside to the right or to the left. Walk in all the way that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess. Deuteronomy 5:32-33

God, our God, will take care of the hidden things but the revealed things are our business. It's up to us and our children to attend to all the terms in this Revelation. Deuteronomy 29:29 (The Message)

About the Friesen's....

We are Marc, Sarah, Luke, and Kate Friesen. We were married June 5, 2004. We have one son, born July 21, 2008, named Luke Andrew -- now 4 years old. We also have a daughter named Kate Christine -- born June 6, 2012. Marc is working at Cessna as a Senior Accountant, and Sarah stays home full-time with Luke. Sarah also gets to work very part-time at home for Graber Backhoe -- an excavation company AND VERY part-time at our church. We LOVE being a part of Grace Community Church here in Newton, KS. We lead a Community Life Group of other wonderful couples. Marc thoroughly enjoys long-distance running and Taekwondo. Sarah thoroughly enjoys walking -- especially when the weather is nice to take Luke and/or out in the stroller. Thanks for reading our blog!

Kanopolis State Park -- Part 2....

If you read THIS POST, here is part 1....

And now, continuing on....

So, the race started....Since the finish line was at a different spot than the start line, Luke and I drove down to the finish line to wait for Marc/Daddy.

As soon as I parked our car at the finish line, Luke immediately asked if he could ride his "bike." (a.k.a. his little red tricycle WITH his helmet -- Luke, being the first child rule-follower, always knows to wear his helmet, AND he will tell anybody who needs a helmet that they do indeed need a helmet).

And, before I post any pics, there's one thing I should say: If this weekend at Kanopolis State Park could be summed up, it would be, "Luke rode his bike." (That's all he wanted to do).

Luke rode and rode and rode some more when Marc was running. After Marc completed his race, and I told him how far he rode, Marc estimated that Luke rode nearly a mile -- which is pretty far for a young 3 year-old. Perhaps Luke has inherited Marc's endurance ability?

Anyways, you may or may not be able to tell that while Luke was riding (and I was walking behind him), it took off raining. Yep, it's hardly rained all summer here, and it takes off raining when I'm not near a vehicle and with a young 3 year-old on a tricycle. Fortunately, Luke didn't mind, for the most part (at one point, he said he was done with riding in the rain....I had to carry Luke the rest of the way back to the car while carrying his metal tricycle -- which is rather heavy).

So, at that point, Luke hung out in the back of the TB (Trail Blazer)....

I was cold and wet. So, I hung out there with him, covered in an old towel we had in the back.

Fortunately, soon after the rainy, wet, and cold incident, Marc came "flying" in.

I don't know what Marc's time was exactly, but I do know he earned first in his age group.

Therefore, he received a "trophy"....

in this "makeshift" awards' ceremony -- which works FABULOUS in the Kansas "wilderness."

After Marc received his award, Luke once again wanted to ride his bike. So, Marc followed behind him this time.

Finally, we headed back to the cabin where the remainder of our weekend "away" was spent watching Luke ride his bike some more....

Reading in the cabin....(I think Luke was fairly tired at this point)....

Going on a family walk (I think we walked around 4 miles that Saturday afternoon)....

(Luke looks slightly annoyed in this photo...he actually did just fine, as he always does, in the stroller; however, it was "bright" outside that day, and this Mama forgot to take along his sunglasses....a definite problem in Luke's little world)....

Playing with bubbles outside the cabin (no pic here), eating, and sleeping....

It was a nice little (albeit quick) family weekend away. We'd like to do it again, and Lord willing, we will :)
