For a couple of months now, my friend, Andrea, and I have been talking about taking our kids swimming at our local Recreation Center.
Instead of making anymore excuses (it's too cold, we're tired, we have too much going on, etc.), we just did it.
It is a slight pain to take small children swimming in the winter (with all of the clothes needed to get in and back outside), but it was worth it.
Luke hadn't been swimming since late July/early August. Let's just say I should've taken him sooner than today....he was a bit timid at first.
Then, Ava (Andrea's daughter) started jumping in. Luke thought that was funny, and then, he loosened up a bit.
**Thanks to Andrea's mom for taking these photos -- she happened to be visiting from Nebraska :)
Luke hasn't quite yet figured out to jump into the water. But, he does like to stand at the edge, have me count to 3, and have me help him get in.
And yes, feel free to chuckle at his long swimming trunks. I actually bought them on clearance at the end of the summer....just in case we decided to swim over the winter. Good thing I bought them, wouldn't you say?
And, please know that it took A LOT for me to post these photos of my very WHITE self IN A swimsuit....not something that is easy for me to do. But, for the sake of sharing about Luke and Ava's swimming adventure -- I did it.
After swimming, you know, you have to get out. And, even though the water is warm and therefore the room is warm, it's still cold to get out -- especially in the winter.
I couldn't resist posting these two photos....one of Luke and one of Luke and Ava.
Andrea -- we'll have to do this again -- very soon!!!! Also, if any other of you would like to go with us, let us know....then, we'll let you know when we go again.
Welcome....Here's a glimpse of our happenings!
The verses that have REALLY spoken to me (Sarah) lately....
"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock." Matthew 7:24-25
Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings. I Peter 5:8-9
From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. For in him we live and move and have our being. As some of your own poets have said, 'We are his offspring.' Acts 17:26-28
May the words of my mouth and the mediation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock, and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14
So be careful to do what the Lord your God has commanded you; do not turn aside to the right or to the left. Walk in all the way that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess. Deuteronomy 5:32-33
God, our God, will take care of the hidden things but the revealed things are our business. It's up to us and our children to attend to all the terms in this Revelation. Deuteronomy 29:29 (The Message)

Looks like you had a ton of fun!
very fun! Ava had a blast and was so tired this evening :)
We used to do that when Ben & Bethany were younger.
Isaiah gets to go swimming twice a week in adaptive PE for special ed students. He really loves it because it's something he's good at. Something he actually is better than some classmates at.
That pool is *really* warm.
Jill and I had just talked about taking the girls. Let us know when you plan to go again! And I WILL NOT post pictures of myself!!
That looks like a great way to spend an hour or two with your little people. Hope you can go again.
What a fun day!! Luke is cute in his trunks -- yes, good thing you got them! And you look lovely, and happy, and having fun with your son, and that's what counts! Not to worry, hon... haven't you noticed the rest of us around this part of the country are white as the snow nowadays? LOL!
♥
We're going today, actually!!! Will we see you there?
