Our house is once again a "sick house."
Marc and I think we're "making up" for last year -- during Luke's first year of life, he never really was sick. He just had one or two small colds, and we never once had to take him to the doctor for anything other than regular well-baby check-ups.
Now, we've become familiar with the dr's office, and their number is on my speed dial.
Monday evening, around 11:00 or so, Luke woke up crying -- EXTREMELY unusual for him. When I went in to check on him, I couldn't figure out what was wrong. He wasn't feverish....I consoled him for a bit and put him back to bed. He started to cry again.
After letting him cry for a bit, Marc and I went in there again. He cried for a bit. We finally gave him some Tylenol and put him back to bed. He cried for a bit more, but then stopped.
He slept through the night, but many times, I heard him on the monitor kind of whimpering and whining.
He woke up crying at 7:15 Tuesday morning (unusual to be crying upon waking up and unusual to be up at 7:15).
We went in there, and he felt very warm. Before leaving for work, Marc took his temperature. Yep, he had a fever.
Thinking it was his ears AGAIN, I called the dr's office....They called me back fairly quickly and said that yes, he needed to come in.
I skipped my Tuesday morning Bible Study group (I was BUMMED), and then, I took Luke to the dr's office in the afternoon.
His ears were CLEAR (YEAH!), but our doctor told us several things -- he thinks this is what Luke probably has...
a) There's a bronchitis type virus going around right now (in other words, no treatment with antibiotics)
b) It's mainly hitting children and geriatrics.
c) It's mainly fever, coughing, and possibly some vomiting (usually from coughing too hard).
d) Our doctor has already put a couple of children in the hospital for this because of dehydration.
e) It could last 7 - 10 days (We'll pray for a shorter recovery).
f) It will probably get worse before it gets better.
g) Give Luke Pedialyte at the first sign of refusing to drink anything else.
Rosey appointment, wasn't it?

Last night, Luke slept through the night, but I heard him coughing quite a bit -- needless to say, my sleep was NOT quality.
I woke up this morning to find Marc not feeling well at all....virtually the same symptoms.
So, I was home today with two sick guys....So sad....
At least they had each other....
On a good note -- we put Luke to bed this evening FEVER FREE! Hopefully, it stays that way.
Marc is feeling somewhat better. Assuming he's not up all night coughing, he will try to go to work tomorrow.
Unfortunately, my throat has started to feel scratchy this evening. I'm really hoping I'm not getting it also.....And, as I'm typing this, I hear Luke coughing which means I'll probably hear him a lot tonight.
I know M.A.N.Y. of you have had this one statement on their respective blogs, but I too will join in --
I AM SO VERY READY FOR SPRING!!!! I DON'T THINK I'VE EVER BEEN THIS READY IN MY LIFE!!!!
Welcome....Here's a glimpse of our happenings!
The verses that have REALLY spoken to me (Sarah) lately....
"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock." Matthew 7:24-25
Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings. I Peter 5:8-9
From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. For in him we live and move and have our being. As some of your own poets have said, 'We are his offspring.' Acts 17:26-28
May the words of my mouth and the mediation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock, and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14
So be careful to do what the Lord your God has commanded you; do not turn aside to the right or to the left. Walk in all the way that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess. Deuteronomy 5:32-33
God, our God, will take care of the hidden things but the revealed things are our business. It's up to us and our children to attend to all the terms in this Revelation. Deuteronomy 29:29 (The Message)

Ohhhhhhh, poor Luke! And Marc (ew, he don't look so good in that pic)! I sure remember being up all night with my boys when they were sick at that age. Try to get your rest and take care of yourself, Sarah! I'm praying that Luke and Marc do NOT have it any longer, and that you don't get it... it's nasty stuff, for sure. I am still fighting mine some, but getting better. My problem is, I have a tendency to overdo too soon before I'm completely well and sometimes relapse, so trying not to do that this time.
All of you, get well soon!
Hey... did I just get called geriatric??
LOL!!
♥
not fun! I hope every gets to feeling better fast. Take care and get some rest! Hopefully you will not get sick too.
Aw, hope you guys are feeling better soon. Joel will be bummed if he has to miss pizza day! :-)
Hope everyone is on the mend!!! And BTW, Moms DON'T get sick. That's MY rule! :)
