Welcome....Here's a glimpse of our happenings!

The verses that have REALLY spoken to me (Sarah) lately....

"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock." Matthew 7:24-25

Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings. I Peter 5:8-9

From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. For in him we live and move and have our being. As some of your own poets have said, 'We are his offspring.' Acts 17:26-28

May the words of my mouth and the mediation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock, and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14

So be careful to do what the Lord your God has commanded you; do not turn aside to the right or to the left. Walk in all the way that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess. Deuteronomy 5:32-33

God, our God, will take care of the hidden things but the revealed things are our business. It's up to us and our children to attend to all the terms in this Revelation. Deuteronomy 29:29 (The Message)

About the Friesen's....

We are Marc, Sarah, Luke, and Kate Friesen. We were married June 5, 2004. We have one son, born July 21, 2008, named Luke Andrew -- now 4 years old. We also have a daughter named Kate Christine -- born June 6, 2012. Marc is working at Cessna as a Senior Accountant, and Sarah stays home full-time with Luke. Sarah also gets to work very part-time at home for Graber Backhoe -- an excavation company AND VERY part-time at our church. We LOVE being a part of Grace Community Church here in Newton, KS. We lead a Community Life Group of other wonderful couples. Marc thoroughly enjoys long-distance running and Taekwondo. Sarah thoroughly enjoys walking -- especially when the weather is nice to take Luke and/or out in the stroller. Thanks for reading our blog!

A Very Important Fundraiser....

Whoa -- I once again have been slacking on my blog posting. I thought summer was supposed to be relaxing. While it's been wonderful to not be on our regular routine, I will admit we have been slightly busier than I'd like for the summer; therefore, blogging has been somewhat ignored.

Two posts ago, I had posted our weekly meal plan. I mentioned I had a pasta dish I had invented. Several of you have requested the recipe. Nope -- I have NOT forgotten. I just haven't gotten around to it. I promise that one of these days, I'll get around to sending it out.

But, in the meantime, last night (Tuesday, June 8), our family went to a very important fundraiser....

To get ready for it, Luke had to have a bath (he was starting to smell not so nice)....

Then, I told him to take a really good nap. And, Luke obeyed that simple command -- at least for this day :) In fact, I even had to wake him up from this wonderful nap. I really do NOT like to do that, but sometimes, it's part of life.

After that, Luke and I headed to the west side of Wichita and met Marc at one of our favorite restaurants -- On the Border.

Why did we go there -- besides for the yummy food?

Meet Marc's friend, Tony (along with Luke -- who was having an almost two year-old meltdown for no apparent reason, despite the good nap)....

Tony is a former Marine who has served the great USA in Afghanistan....Now, he's an accomplished ultra-runner -- which would be how Marc knows him.

Tony is currently working to raise $25,000 for the Wounded Warrior Project.

The Wounded Warrior Project's purpose is this....

**To raise awareness and enlist the public’s aid for the needs of severely injured service men and women,

**To help severely injured service members aid and assist each other, and

**To provide unique, direct programs and services to meet the needs of severely injured service members.

In return for donations to this project, Tony will be running across the state of Kansas (from north to south). His goal is to run straight across in 60 hours or less. He will be starting this run on Thursday evening, September 9, 2010.

To follow Tony's journey of running and fundraising, click HERE. (I've also added his blog to the side of this blog).

Here's the coolest thing about this -- Tony, on his run across this state, will be taking Highway 15 WHICH, for those of you local peeps, goes straight through our town of Newton, KS!

And, though I don't like to give too much information about where our house is located, that means he will be running a whopping ONE block from our house. Now, I have NO idea what time he will be running through our town, but it is possible to see Tony run during the course of that weekend.

Now, back to On the Border last night....

On the Border agreed to donate 10% of gross sales to Tony's project....

So, we decided to go and eat yummy food for a great cause....

Our most favorite appetizer at On the Border is the Guacamole Live -- you know, where they make the guacamole fresh right in front of you. If you can tell at the front of this photo (Luke's blond hair), Luke was very intrigued by the whole thing.

Admittedly, I was a little nervous when our server told us that this was only the 4th time she's made this and the FIRST time by herself (she was fairly new), but she did a WONDERFUL job....It was as good as always :)

After the appetizer and then, supper, we presented Tony's letter so that the management knew that 10% of our meal was to be donated to Tony's cause....(Tony was at the front door, handing this letter out to folks as they entered)....

We exited the restaurant so that somebody else could have our table (they were getting busy at this point)....

Soon, the American Legion Riders showed up. It was kind of a stormy night; therefore, there weren't too many riders. But, I will admit that it was cool to see them show up with their very large American flags on their motorcycles.

Sorry this photo isn't the greatest. It was starting to rain. Luke was getting somewhat whiny, and I was really working to keep him out of the parking lot.

But, you get the point....

If you look at Tony's blog, you'll notice another fundraising event coming up very soon....

Tony's doing a 9-hour training run at a local high school. He's asking interested people to also come and run or walk around the track. Here's the caveat -- he's asking for a $1 donation for each lap you do.

Marc will be there -- who knows how many laps he will do....Luke and I will most likely be there (we'll see what the weather does). I wouldn't mind doing my daily 4-mile walk for a great cause -- with Luke in the stroller, of course.
