Welcome....Here's a glimpse of our happenings!

The verses that have REALLY spoken to me (Sarah) lately....

"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock." Matthew 7:24-25

Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings. I Peter 5:8-9

From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. For in him we live and move and have our being. As some of your own poets have said, 'We are his offspring.' Acts 17:26-28

May the words of my mouth and the mediation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock, and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14

So be careful to do what the Lord your God has commanded you; do not turn aside to the right or to the left. Walk in all the way that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess. Deuteronomy 5:32-33

God, our God, will take care of the hidden things but the revealed things are our business. It's up to us and our children to attend to all the terms in this Revelation. Deuteronomy 29:29 (The Message)

About the Friesen's....

We are Marc, Sarah, Luke, and Kate Friesen. We were married June 5, 2004. We have one son, born July 21, 2008, named Luke Andrew -- now 4 years old. We also have a daughter named Kate Christine -- born June 6, 2012. Marc is working at Cessna as a Senior Accountant, and Sarah stays home full-time with Luke. Sarah also gets to work very part-time at home for Graber Backhoe -- an excavation company AND VERY part-time at our church. We LOVE being a part of Grace Community Church here in Newton, KS. We lead a Community Life Group of other wonderful couples. Marc thoroughly enjoys long-distance running and Taekwondo. Sarah thoroughly enjoys walking -- especially when the weather is nice to take Luke and/or out in the stroller. Thanks for reading our blog!

The Zoo....

This post is slightly late, but better late than never, right?

Way back on June 1, our Tuesday morning Bible Study group (from the past two years) went to the Sedgwick County Zoo....Total, we had 5 Mamas, 7 Toddlers, one baby, and a 5 year-old....Sounds like a real interesting group, doesn't it?

And, before I forget, Amanda already posted HERE about the trip, and Debby already posted HERE about the trip....

Anyways, it was a rather warm and humid day to be out....We were glad when a few clouds popped in the sky to cool us off....

First, the elephants....Here's a pic of Luke watching the elephants.

Then, we saw the hippos...I already posted this photo a couple of weeks ago (with regards to food), but I still like it. Amanda is the one who squirted water at them to get them to open their mouths :)

We kept trudging (if that's a word) along in the heat....

But first, STOP -- group photo....

As you can see, it was interesting getting this group to ALL pose for a photo. And, there are 3 Mamas to help with "kid control" in this photo as well (and, I'm one of the Mamas to make sure Luke stayed put)...

Finally, we stopped at the tiger exhibit which had -- air-conditioning! Yes, I remember we stayed here for a bit to cool off....

Whenever we were moving from one exhibit to the other, Luke did a GREAT job at staying put in the stroller -- here's a "dark" pic inside the herpetarium.

But, I will also say that Luke did an EXCELLENT job whenever I let him out of the stroller...like when he was looking at the turtles in the water.

Or, even when playing near a rock....

But, I also remember that Luke is indeed almost 22 months old. He doesn't quite understand the word "still." So, if you've looked at both Debby's and Amanda's blogs, you'll notice a very cute photo of the kiddos with the penguin picture. One kiddo is NOT in the photo. Yep, that kiddo would be Luke.

He was much more interested in this....

After a couple of hours, the kiddos were done, and I'm pretty sure that adults and kids alike were rather warm and needed a break.

So, we all trekked over to McDonald's (with a playland) for lunch....

On the way to McDonald's, Luke did this in the carseat....Poor guy -- he was pooped out.

But, I didn't complain...That little 10-minute powernap of Luke's recharged him just enough for lunch at McDonald's AND the trip home. Therefore, when we did get home, he took a good nap for me :) This Mama is EXTREMELY protective of Luke's naps. After all, I love my quiet time with God in the afternoon, and Marc and I both really enjoy a Happy Luke in the evening.

The zoo trip was a lot of fun! The kids really all did wonderful, and I'll look forward to another time!

I must have a dozen blog friends who have been to the zoo this month and all of them have blogged about it... except me. And we did go... a few days later than you! Guess I need to post mine... 'cause this year I took photos from a different perspective. I mean, HOW MANY animal photos can one actually NEED on one's computer, right? LOL!

Cute photos of Luke! You are so blessed to have such a sweet disciplined young man! :)

Is this humidity crazy or what!
