Believe it or not, I really don't have too much to blog about. However, the other day (Saturday), I did capture a couple of photos that I deem worth sharing.
We live fairly close to a creek (Slate Creek for all of you locals). On Saturday, I was in the kitchen, preparing some food because my family was coming over in the evening. All of a sudden, Marc said, "Get the camera. There are some wild turkeys in the yard. They're from near the creek."
So, I did grab the camera. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get them photographed in our yard -- only walking toward our neighbors' yard and actually in our neighbors' yard.
But, how interesting is that to get five wild turkeys walking through our yard here in town?
If you look closely at this pic, you can see the turkeys through the trees. This is right after they left our yard, heading toward our neighbors' yard.

This pic shows them in our neighbors' yard. About an hour after this photo was taken, Luke and I were out walking. One of them flew over me. I didn't even realize they could fly.

And (please don't read this if you're an animal lover), Marc had actually seen these wild turkeys near our yard before they crossed our yard. He immediately went and grabbed his BB gun. There he was, on our deck, shooting at the wild turkeys. He did hit both of them. NO, they were not hurt at all. In fact, Marc said they were hardly even phased a bit.

Sarah,
I'm not sure exactly where in Newton you and Marc live, but we too have wild turkeys who like to strut around our yard from the empty pasture next door to our neighbors. Caden thinks they're funny. Being a city girl through and through I think it's weird to see wild animals in my front yard and Doug likes to use his turkey call to frustrate and annoy the poor birds. The first time we saw them, Doug asked if I thought he'd get caught if he shot at them (with his shot gun though, not a BB gun!). I said yes, so he downgraded to jsut harrassing them with the turkey call. Very funny! The male gets all protective and mad and the females look around all sly and coy.
