Yesterday, since Marc was off work, I scheduled Luke's 18-month check-up so that Marc could go with us.
The appointment went fine except Luke really doesn't like the doctor examining him. And, he most certainly didn't care for the shots. Fortunately, he recovers quickly, and overall, shots aren't too bad for him. It's just sad in the process.
Anyways, here are Luke's official stats.
Height: 32 3/4 inches (70th percentile)
Weight: 28 lb. 10 oz. (83rd percentile)
Head Circumference: 20 inches (98th percentile)
**I've said this before, and I'll say it again. Could Luke's large head be the reason he didn't come out of me normal and therefore required a C-Section delivery? Who knows? We just laugh about his large head.

Last week, Luke, all of a sudden, decided he wanted to eat with a spoon by himself (I'd been working with him on it -- he had only been doing it with help). So, I let him. Yes, there was a mess, but I haven't had a parent yet tell me that learning to use utensils doesn't make a mess.
Here he is -- eating some yogurt. Yes, some actually did make it into his mouth :)
And, just for fun....
Here are a couple of photos of Luke working on a sucker. We'd been at the bank. They gave him one (as they have in the past), and I sometimes let him work on it in the car -- not for too long, though. It can be a sticky mess.
Does anybody else let their kids do this in the car (at least a kid this young)?
The REAL beauty of these photos is that if you look closely at Luke's right cheek, you'll notice dried snot. It looks like dirt, but it's not. I had been at my Bible Study (on Tuesday mornings). Luke stays in the nursery at church, and that's how he was when I picked him up.
Yes, it's gross, but it's a child :) Those things are to be expected. And, I am NOT at all complaining about the people who work in the nursery with Luke during that time. They do a great job. He's well care for....He likes to play there.
I can deal with the snot. I don't expect them to deal with somebody else's kid's snot.

Luke is getting to be quite handsome - as in the last pic. And yes - kids are messy and there is no point in getting uptight about it. Most generally they grow out of it...but not always. Haven't you known messy guys in their twenties and older? Just the way they are sometimes. Anyway. Your son looks good. And you do sound like a proud mommy - just as you should!
Taylor AND Mason eat their entire suckers in the car all the time. I can't remember when Mason had his first - but it's been AWHILE ago. Having some wipes stashed somewhere in the backseat where you can grab them quickly as you get them out of their seats is handy.
in fact, you'll think I'm crazy if you knew that Mason has also had gum and hard candy! It's so hard to tell him no, if Taylor is getting it - so he insists on having all the same stuff! Just wait till you see what your 2nd ones ends up getting and how early!
I let Julia have suckers in the car. I don't like it but she gets so mad when I try to reason with her (reasoning with a year and a half year old HA!). Before Jeremy and I had Julia I was a perfectionist to the MAX about messes and all that...you should see my house now! I guess messes are easy to clean up I figure.
