Welcome....Here's a glimpse of our happenings!

The verses that have REALLY spoken to me (Sarah) lately....

"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock." Matthew 7:24-25

Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings. I Peter 5:8-9

From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. For in him we live and move and have our being. As some of your own poets have said, 'We are his offspring.' Acts 17:26-28

May the words of my mouth and the mediation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock, and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14

So be careful to do what the Lord your God has commanded you; do not turn aside to the right or to the left. Walk in all the way that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess. Deuteronomy 5:32-33

God, our God, will take care of the hidden things but the revealed things are our business. It's up to us and our children to attend to all the terms in this Revelation. Deuteronomy 29:29 (The Message)

And Now -- Box #2....

Box #2 of the cleanout of my old bedroom at my parents' wasn't quite as amusing as Box #1, but it still was fun to see some old things.

So, here's Box #2 -- Before Cleanout....

When I was in the eighth grade, we took a trip to Washington, D.C. and New York City. It was a really fun trip, and in this box, I happened to find the itinerary.

It certainly was fun to look at, though it wouldn't make sense to keep it. What would I do with it? And remember, I'm not much of a packrat. So, it went into the recycle bin.

I do remember, however, on that trip, going by the Julliard School in New York City. Remember -- I was in the eighth grade. I was dreaming BIG at that point in my life. I liked music. I sang. I was in band...blah, blah, blah.

I must have thought that Julliard was an option for me because on that trip, I picked up a Julliard catalog. I still had it.

Again -- fun to look at it, but it did go in the recycle bin. And no, I didn't see any tuition prices in the catalog. I was curious about that.

You know the phrase, "Always a bridesmaid but never a bride?"

Well, I, at one point in time, could've fit that phrase. I was a bridesmaid six times before I was ever a bride...I must have kept some of the flowers. I found this box of dried flowers.

I carried yellow roses in our wedding, but I promise these were not them. I have mine dried up -- in a nice container here at our home.

So, not knowing exactly where these flowers even came from -- they went into the trash.

How about some license plates for my bicycle -- with the name "Sarah?"

My first Bible....Definitely, I kept.

How about these keepsakes?

A thimble from my great-grandmother (definitely kept), my original Brownies pin (kept), and some old lip balm (threw away).

And, a key chain from my Jr. Year Prom...titled "Hold onto the Night." Didn't Richard Marx sing that song?

I have actually ZERO sentiments toward my high school proms. So, I actually threw that key chain out. Besides, it was scratched up and cheaply made.

And, for the G.R.A.N.D. finale of this box....four wallhangings I no longer care for (garage sale), one little ceramic thing I forgot about (garage sale), and a Texas flag (can't remember if it's in the garage sale pile or if I threw it out).

Now, for those of you readers who may be in Texas or those of you who are in love with the state, don't be offended. I just don't have any emotional attachment to the state. I'm not sure why I even had the flag. I'm laughing about that one, to be honest.

Stayed tuned for the rest!

More than just okay said...

Sarah, I am totally with you on your keep/toss choices. Just the best, toss the rest. Makes life much simpler and keeping house easier.

I agree with your keep/throw out (oops, I first typed "throw up"! - did you know the flu is going around?) options. I had one of those stenciled things like your bear too! I think I got rid of that in a garage sale 10 years ago! By the way, I had one nursery worker today make the comment "Luke is always so happy!"

Wait! Whatdja do with the Pizza Hut frisbie?? LOL!

I know your Juliard book and the itinerary are in your recycle bin, but things like that... you can always take down to the Harvey County Historical Society (203 North Main Street). Doesn't have to be Harvey County stuff... just history stuff in general! Take it upstairs to Jane Jones, the archivist {tell her I sent you. ;-) } You wouldn't believe what some people are looking for... you might just have the piece of history they want! {Just a thought for if you run across anything like that again. :-) }

Love those bicycle plates! I remember collecting those, too!
