This morning, Luke and I drove to Inman, KS (about an hour or so from here), to look at and ultimately purchase a new oven. Marc and I have "been in the market" for a new one for quite awhile. We've used "Jim's Appliance" out of Inman in the past for oven repair. We were happy with their service. Plus, they've come recommended from some other people we know.
Here's the ultimate story on our oven, though. First, a photo of our current one (that will very soon be replaced).
This house was built in 1972, and we're fairly certain that this oven was the original oven. When we purchased this house in 2004, it became a goal to, at some point, replace this oven.
This probably won't surprise any of you, but all of the ovens now, like everything else these days, are bigger. So, we will ultimately have to have a little bit of carpentry work done for a new oven.
We didn't quite trust ourselves (home handiness is not really a gift of either one of us) to buy an oven that would properly fit in our kitchen. That's why I went to Jim's Appliance. They were EXTREMELY helpful. They already have been out to measure for us, so we do know that this new oven, with the little bit of carpentry work that I already mentioned, should work in our kitchen.
Here's a photo of the new oven I purchased this morning, in the store showroom. It has to be ordered in yet for us.
Don't worry. There will be a blog post of the new oven once it's actually working in our kitchen. Oh, I'm so excited! I guess I know I'm an adult when I get excited about new appliances.
Luke was very good this morning on our "oven outing." However, I do think he was glad when we got home. After I pulled into the garage, I got out and went to his side of the car. I opened the door, and this is what I found.
Nope, nothing ornery or anything -- just a cute boy, waiting to get out of his carseat.
