Welcome....Here's a glimpse of our happenings!

The verses that have REALLY spoken to me (Sarah) lately....

"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock." Matthew 7:24-25

Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings. I Peter 5:8-9

From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. For in him we live and move and have our being. As some of your own poets have said, 'We are his offspring.' Acts 17:26-28

May the words of my mouth and the mediation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock, and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14

So be careful to do what the Lord your God has commanded you; do not turn aside to the right or to the left. Walk in all the way that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess. Deuteronomy 5:32-33

God, our God, will take care of the hidden things but the revealed things are our business. It's up to us and our children to attend to all the terms in this Revelation. Deuteronomy 29:29 (The Message)

About the Friesen's....

We are Marc, Sarah, Luke, and Kate Friesen. We were married June 5, 2004. We have one son, born July 21, 2008, named Luke Andrew -- now 4 years old. We also have a daughter named Kate Christine -- born June 6, 2012. Marc is working at Cessna as a Senior Accountant, and Sarah stays home full-time with Luke. Sarah also gets to work very part-time at home for Graber Backhoe -- an excavation company AND VERY part-time at our church. We LOVE being a part of Grace Community Church here in Newton, KS. We lead a Community Life Group of other wonderful couples. Marc thoroughly enjoys long-distance running and Taekwondo. Sarah thoroughly enjoys walking -- especially when the weather is nice to take Luke and/or out in the stroller. Thanks for reading our blog!

A Trip to Wal-Mart....

This post might not be the most exciting you've ever read, but you know, sometimes that's how our days go. But, if we're glorifying God in what we do, it shouldn't matter if it's really exciting to everybody else or not...Right?

Since our grocery budget ran tight last month, I hadn't been to Wal-Mart in awhile.

I used to all of our grocery shopping (with the exception of fresh produce) at Wal-Mart. However, two months ago, I made the BIG switch to Dillon's -- a Kroger-based chain. I have found that it's a much more pleasant experience, and I'm finding that I don't spend that much more money if I carefully shop.

However, I do still shop at Wal-Mart for personal items (shampoo, toilet paper, etc.) as well as a few generic items.

We shop on a cash-only basis. Since it was the first of the month, I needed to go to the ATM to get some cash. The ATM we use involves the crossing of the train tracks -- and you local readers KNOW exactly what that means.

Yep, we hit the jackpot today....We waited and waited and waited on several trains. Fortunately, Luke LOVES trains. Therefore, even though we waited awhile, this is the look I did get.

And, I feel I must add one little caveat to the many trains that go through our beloved town. Though they sometimes can seem like an annoyance, I, in all actuality, don't mind them. They employee many people in this town -- which in turn provides increased revenue to our town. And, even though trains can be a nuisance to wait on and they can be noisy sometimes, they truly are an efficient way of moving goods across the country.

One time, Marc and I were out walking with Luke in the stroller. We ended up getting stopped by a train during the walk. We counted the railroad cars. That particular train was transporting new vehicles. Now, we are by no means professionals at this, but we estimated that, with this single train, over 1,500 vehicles were transported. How else can you transport that many vehicles that efficiently?

Not too bad of a deal to help keep our economy going, right?

I know, I know -- only Marc and I would have a discussion like that :) That's why you guys all love us, isn't it?

Anyways, I digress....

Our local Wal-Mart is currently doing some rearranging and remodeling. Admittedly, it's a bit of a nuisance not knowing where certain things are. But, we survived, and I did find everything I was looking for.

(And yes, I'm all over generic products that are quality).

And, I'm really doing my best at NOT complaining about the rearranging and remodeling at Wal-Mart. I am publically refusing to be one of those people who can't handle change.

For some reason, Wal-Mart was B.U.S.Y. today -- even for a school day. So, we waited in line for a bit.

I LOVE how practicing putting on and taking off a lid on a little container keeps Luke happy.

On a much more fun note -- my good friend, Sarah, came over after school today (she's a teacher). We had a nice time chatting -- Thanks Sarah for coming over!!!! It was a great way to end the day.

And, I found this verse today in the Old Testament book of Jeremiah. It really spoke to me today, and I'd like to share it.

This is what the Lord says: "Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom or the strong man boast of his strength or the rich man boast of his riches, but let him who boasts boast about this: that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight," declares the Lord. Jeremiah 9:23-24

What a great verse to remember -- How many times have I boasted about something other than God? Ummmm....too many to even count :(

More than just okay said...

personally, I love the trains too. I've counted rail cars many times. I really think it's cool when 2 are going by at the same time.

Have you heard the one engineer who starts blowing the horn clear out northeast of town and doesn't stop until he's gotten all the way through to the southwest side? Wowwwww. It's ear-splitting.

And then there's the one who, during the holidays, plays "Jingle Bells" with his train's horn! And he does a durn good job of it, too!

Being only a few blocks from the tracks, we probably hear all the extra stuff. Especially when they do the round-about and are working on the engines.

Oh! And sometimes when those train cars crash together in the middle of the night during a thunderstorm... was that the train? or the thunder? Hard to tell sometimes... unless a bolt of lightning accompanies it, heh-heh.

Woo-hoo, whatdya think of those mustard-color walls out there at Walmart now! Bright! Now, if I could just find where they put the sunglasses... ;-)
