Welcome....Here's a glimpse of our happenings!

The verses that have REALLY spoken to me (Sarah) lately....

"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock." Matthew 7:24-25

Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings. I Peter 5:8-9

From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. For in him we live and move and have our being. As some of your own poets have said, 'We are his offspring.' Acts 17:26-28

May the words of my mouth and the mediation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock, and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14

So be careful to do what the Lord your God has commanded you; do not turn aside to the right or to the left. Walk in all the way that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess. Deuteronomy 5:32-33

God, our God, will take care of the hidden things but the revealed things are our business. It's up to us and our children to attend to all the terms in this Revelation. Deuteronomy 29:29 (The Message)

About the Friesen's....

We are Marc, Sarah, Luke, and Kate Friesen. We were married June 5, 2004. We have one son, born July 21, 2008, named Luke Andrew -- now 4 years old. We also have a daughter named Kate Christine -- born June 6, 2012. Marc is working at Cessna as a Senior Accountant, and Sarah stays home full-time with Luke. Sarah also gets to work very part-time at home for Graber Backhoe -- an excavation company AND VERY part-time at our church. We LOVE being a part of Grace Community Church here in Newton, KS. We lead a Community Life Group of other wonderful couples. Marc thoroughly enjoys long-distance running and Taekwondo. Sarah thoroughly enjoys walking -- especially when the weather is nice to take Luke and/or out in the stroller. Thanks for reading our blog!

VERY FULL on chicken....

Last Saturday evening (August 7), Marc and I, along with part of our Community Life Group from church, took the "a little over an hour" drive to Abilene, KS, to eat at the Kansas-famous Brookville Hotel and Restaurant.

In case you've never been to this restaurant, we DO recommend it -- if you're in the area. It's worth the drive.

First off, this was a kid-free event -- which was a nice change of pace. Three couples could go that evening (we missed you, Tim & Johannah); therefore, we all piled into one vehicle with enough seatbelts for all of us. Thanks Mark and Lisa for driving, and thanks Lisa for your FEARLESS and VERY ATTENTIVE driving (Lisa did avoid us being in a major accident at one point in time on this trip).

My friend, Sarah, and I took the very back of the vehicle -- always a different view from that part of the vehicle.

Upon arriving, the Brookville staff had a table ready with only about 2 minutes of waiting -- YAY!

At this restaurant, the menu is the same for everybody -- 1/2 of a fried chicken (per person), mashed potatoes, gravy, VERY creamy (and quite yummy) cole slaw, biscuits, salad, and ice cream. With the exception of the ice cream, everything is served "family style."

So, once you get drinks served, the food is brought out pretty much right away.

**Before I go any further, keep in mind that I did NOT mess with any of my settings on my camera. Therefore, in true non-photographer Sarah fashion, some of these photos are a bit dark...But, at least you'll get a glimpse of our evening.

Anyways, let's just say that Marc and Seth definitely enjoyed their chicken as well as everything else on their plates. They most definitely won the prize for consuming the most! In all fairness, Seth is leaving shortly on an extended business trip. During that time, their extended family will be going to this restaurant for a birthday party. Seth is a bit bummed to be missing the opportunity to go here again...So, he made up for it last weekend when we were all there :)

And, our entire group (in the dark -- again, my lack of changing settings on my camera)....

And, several of us agreed that the ice cream (for dessert) needed to have some sundae toppings included...So, Seth invented his own....a leftover cinnamon apple from earlier in the dinner. He said it was actually rather tasty. Marc used leftover jam on his ice cream for additional sweetness, but I forgot to take a photo of that one.

This may possible be TMI, BUT before leaving, we did converse briefly about which route we needed to take home -- the one which takes us in the middle of nowhere (with no restroom facilities other than the side of the road) or the interstate (which is a bit longer but would include some restroom opportunities if needed)....We, at first anyways, weren't all sure we'd make it home with our digestive systems soooooo busy after this meal.

We opted for the "middle of nowhere" route home (K-15 for your Kansan readers)...We all made it. (Again, probably TMI)....

But, we did stop for some gum to keep the digestive juices flowing....So, to end this post, here's Seth demonstrating just how much gum he can have at one time.

If you haven't ever tried this restaurant, we highly recommend it! It was a fun "group" trip -- especially when the kids are with sitters!

The best is when you get it for take out. One meal can easily serve 2 people! (I have recipes for the corn and coleslaw, if you're ever interested!) :)

Isn't Abilene a quaint little town?? :)

We ate there many moons ago. Sounds like a fun trip! We'll have to do it again.

Mmmmmm...I love Brookeville!! Your post made me hungry! HA! On a totally different note, I saw on The Macs blog that Marc is recommending running shoes! ;) I am in need of a new pair and would love to hear his opinion. Are you guys coming to Mac for the triathalon this year? If so, would love to see you guys! After watching Ryan last year, I thought I would get in shape enough to do it this year...didn't happen...there's always next year, right!?
